At Glam Bam Paws, we groom humanely. Removing matts is extremely painful and distressing to dogs. A matted coat can cause and hide skin that is red, irritated, swollen, cracks, hot spots, aural hematomas if mats were located on or around the ears. A matted coat can make it impossible to determine in advance the presence of any moles, scabs, or other conditions on the pet’s skin that makes it more likely to accidently remove, nick or cut open the moles or skin. A matted coat can reveal the presence of fleas and other pests. Matted coats may not grow back evenly or may grow in patches (mainly double coated breeds). Pets with underlying conditions may have a hard time re-growing hair. Shaving pets may reveal pre-existing conditions that were unable to be determined prior to shaving. The coat could look different in color when it grows back. Without protection of the coat there is a higher risk of sunburn or become overheated. Shaving pets may make them self-conscious and they may behave differently than normal. EX: they may become timid or more irritable than normal. If mats are found, it is possible that all or part of the coat may not be able to be saved (brushed out) without causing undue discomfort to your pet. For these pets, the matted area may require shaving. If your pup is matted and depending on the severity of the matting, we will do whatever length is under the mats. We will not do extensive de-matting as it is extremely painful for your pup. If your pup doesn’t tolerate basic brushing they will need to be kept a short length. The groomer/stylist will de-mat the pet (if possible) and there is an extra charge for de-matting of $10- $40 in addition to the regular groom. If a pet is severely matted and must be shaved there is a strip fee of $10-$40. Shaving a matted pet takes more time and must be done safely to avoid any discomfort. It is the owner’s duty to maintain their pets coat between professional grooms and we are always more than happy to instruct as to the best way to take care of their dog’s coat on a regular basis.
All pets brought in for grooming must be picked up within 30 minutes of the time the client is informed the pet is ready. Pets remaining after that time have a boarding fee of $20 per pet will be charged every hour. We reserve the right to decline future appointments for clients who fail to pick up their pets on time on more than one occasion.
The months of November & December are the busiest dog grooming times. It is highly recommended that appointments during this time are booked way in advance. No shows or cancellations within the required 48hrs notification will be charged the full grooming price.
Your satisfaction is extremely important to us. If your unhappy and would like something adjusted, we will be happy to accommodate you within 2 days of grooming appointment. This does not include if you changed your mind and want a different cut.
